2nd Climbing: Ungaran Mt

“Hold my hand, let’s walk together. We’ll go to the top together, no matter how hard the journey is…”

Banzai!!! Finally, I climbed a mountain again. This time, I climbed Ungaran Mt, it’s 2050M asl. With “NgikNgok-Pala edition” (Pasku as the expert, Nopai, my BF and I) we reached the summit of this mountain. Absolutely, that was great yoy! On Saturday until Monday (12th and 13th of January 2013) we had awesome time together, even though the weather was not good it was not strong enough to beat our spirit.
Pasku, Nopai, Me, and bebii Wildan :D

We started from Mawar Base Camp (finally I know this place by my own self, before this i just heard about this place) it located at the foot of Ungaran Mt, Sidomukti village Jimbaran Bandungan Ungaran Central Java. The track of this mountain is good enough for newbie like me, good for hiking and the view is so damn beautiful. Unlike my previous experience, the journey was better because it wasn’t raining, just the wind. My style is “snail” mode, honestly I like this style because I can enjoy every single part of my journey. Besides, I can manage my energy well. For me, enjoy the journey is the point of climbing a mountain. The summit will never run away, even though we don’t run to reach it.

We arrived in a place that has a swimming pool, I wanted to swim there. The water is green and so cold. We took a break and (of course) some photographs. Then we continued our journey happily (indeed, it was a happy hiking I ever had).

The next destination for our break was the tea plantation right after we passed the coffee plantation. The view was more than just beautiful. Unfortunately the mist started to come and blocked our sight. I only could see more or less 30meters from where I stood, a ‘lil bit horrible. There’s a junction on the tea plantation, right is Promasan (it’s a village) and left is the peak of Ungaran Mt. Ok, crystal clearly we wanted the “summit attack” so we turned left. Another break we took before we passed the real track of the journey, my friend said that the real track would be started after pos Buka’an (one of shelters that can be found on Ungaran Mt), and the previous track was for warming up.

My first summit attack was done amazingly. But honestly, the track was harder than before (my friend was right, he’s the expert about this! No doubt about that. ), fortunately I didn’t have to pass it by myself, hehe… I had to be careful because of the slippery track and there were too many toppled trees that blocked the track.
The track is hard

Before reached the top, I took a rest and found a beautiful flower on the grassy place. Only one flower and it surprised me. I think, took a break and photograph would do no harm, LOL.

It was getting harder because of the rough wind, I thought it was hurricane! The mist got tighter and I almost couldn’t see the track. Once more, I was lucky ‘cause I didn’t have to face all of those horrible things by myself.
Then, we made it!!! We reached the top, but it was ZONK! We couldn’t see anything from the top in spite of the tight mist. We found a place to build the tent, and there were so many options because there were no other hikers there. My friend said, “Only crazy hikers who wanna camp here in a weather like this.” Ok, we’re totally crazy dude!
Learn how to build a tent

No matter what happened around us, we still had a good time there. We had everything; the warmth, togetherness, happiness, spirit, love, comfortable shelter, and enough food. We were the happiest crazy hikers ever I guess, LOL. The point is: we were very happy.
Bad weather, good mood :p

One important thing we missed was the sunrise, what can I say? It was raining in the morning and it goes without saying the sun couldn’t be seen. We just took some photographs and tried to handle the extreme weather up there. Then we decided to go down that morning. Actually I still had a happy trek. I really enjoyed it, every single minute of it. Finally, we reached Promasan and took a rest in "Camp Biyung". The owner gave us shelter and food. I realized that I was so hungry, since I hadn’t had my breakfast. That was a big mistake. I promise myself that I will never let myself hungry when climbing a mountain. After had lunch, I felt so unwell and didn’t feel up to continue the trek. That was awful when I had to vomit in a yucky public restroom.
Felt unwell, but good enough for photograph -_-

I forced myself to continue, the spirit that given by my only one when he held my hand and the beauty of tea plantation’s view healed me little by little. I felt better after walked together with him more or less for one and a half hours, amazing ‘aight? I could take some photographs with a smile on my face again, LOL.

Another thing we missed was exploring Goa Jepang because of the tight mist, almost the same with what happened to the sunrise. It’s Ok, we’ll come again someday.
There was no break on the way back, until we reached Mawar Base Camp. We spent the twilight together and enjoyed the view. We back to Semarang again that night.

the hidden double date, LOL

That was the nicest weekend I had with my lover and my friends. Honestly, we were on a mission, to have a date together in a good place. Hell yeah, that was an awesome date. A hidden double date on Ungaran Mt, cool wasn’t it? LOL.
