Hanamizuki (May your love bloom a hundred year) is a Japanese movie by Nobuhiro Doi which written by Noriko Yoshida, and it’s a love story. As the third year high school student, Sae Hirasawa (Yui Aragaki) is trying so hard for her college entrance exams. Her father, Kemimichi Hirasawa (Arata) passed away when she just a child, so she lives with her mother, Ryoko Hirasawa (Hiroko Yakushimaru) in Hokkaido, Japan. When she was very young, her father planted a dogwood tree in front of their house after he found out he had a terminal disease, his life would over soon, and couldn’t watch Sae grow up.
One day, Kohei Kiuchi (Ikuta Toma) who attends a specialized high school teaching fishery, meet Sae in a train and he likes her for the first time he saw her, then they start to know each other and get closer. After graduation Sae go to Tokyo University while Kohei follows his father’s footsteps as a fisherman, so they have a lond distance relationship. Even though their love is strong, it doesn’t last. In Tokyo, Sae meet Junichi Kitami (Osamu Mukai) he is a photographer, they become a good friend then.
After Kohei’s father passed away, they decide to end their relationship Kohei start to make a relationship with Ritsuko Watanabe(Misako Renbutsu). Sae finished her college and get a job in New York, America in the same office with Junichi.
Sae back to Japan to attend Minami’s wedding party, Sae’s best friend from high school. She meets again with Kohei, actually they still love each other and that’s the reason why Kohei’s fiancĂ© left him. When back in New York, Sae and Junichi plan to get married but unfortunately Junichi passed away before it happens.
Sae moves to Canada, and there she knows that Kohei’s ship is in Canada too. She is trying to find him but Kohei’s ship has alredy left the harbor, she couldn’t meet him…
Sae decided to go back to Hokkaido, her mother had already remarried and Minami has two children, everything’s changing, but not her feeling towards Kohei. This time, ten years after they met for the first time and have love between them, these two young meet again… and then a miracle happens…
Well, I think Hanamisuki is a recommended movie for Japanese movie lovers, Toma and Gakky act amazingly in this movie. They are a good couple, a handsome man and a beautiful girl
This movie was taken in Hokkaido Japan, Canada, and New York early 2010. Yui Aragaki played as a teenager all the way up to twenty-eight year career woman, this is the first time that Yui portrays an adult character. She also performed some of her lines in English and therefore she was studying English to prepare for her lines.
